The MCW-Prevea Family Medicine Residency is proud to incorporate the ABLM Lifestyle Medicine Curriculum into our residency program. We were the first residency program in Wisconsin to integrate the lifestyle medicine program into our curriculum. This curriculum is part of our didactics series and all residents are exposed to the training and education offered. We believe that all individuals are capable of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, improving their health and reducing or eliminating chronic disease through lifestyle measures. This includes training in the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine: Nutrition, Physical Activity, Sleep, Stress Reduction, Social Connection and Voidance of Risky Substances. We review the research, discuss practice incorporation of the pillars and practical methods of using these strategies in patient visits. If residents are interested, they are eligible through our residency to take the ABLM board certification exam the fall after they pass their Family Medicine board exam and complete their residency. We look forward to discussing our philosophy with you!
